This section is pretty short. Evaporative Coolers have been around a very long time. There is some evidence that evaporative cooling was used as early as the Old Kingdom of Egypt, around 2500 B.C. (Source: Wikipedia) The following video is a pretty good demonstration of the effectiveness of an evaporative cooler. It should be noted that they will be less effective in areas of high humidity, but they still do work.
